RESIDENTS
ARE IMPORTANT
CONSULTATIONS ARE
IMPORTANT FOR THE FUTURE The Government has created the
need for a Community Plan . All residents. are invited to meet with
councillors and members of other local bodies at a Public Meeting.
The one for Christchurch Ward, is to be held in conjunction with Merrow
and Burpham and will take place on Tuesday 25 June at St John’s Centre, Merrow.
Andrew Hodges will be there to hear you views.
Will You be there?
MOBILE
PHONE MASTS
RESIDENTS’ CONCERNS CONTINUE
OVER THE SITING OF PHONE MASTS. Andrew
Hodges and Guildford Conservatives continue to strive for an improved approach
to these masts. The proposal for
one off Warren Road in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was unanimously
turned down by the Planning Committee on grounds of visual amenity and
inappropriateness. Whatever we say,
they are here to stay – at least for the time being. Guildford Conservatives
support the idea of a ‘Mast Summit’ put forward by
Guildford Phone Mast Campaign Groups, to seek ways of addressing many issues of
concern.
MUDDLE
OVER PHASE 4B PARKING
THE
CONSULTATION OVER PHASE 4B PARKING has
caused upset, as residents who had previously been consulted and had rejected
any restriction, were wrongly included on the latest consultations together with
roads where no restrictions are being considered. This is regrettable.
A
40% return of the questionnaires shows the importance of the issue in the ward.
Andrew Hodges as Borough Councillor, and
Nick Brougham as County Councillor, will be working with residents to
achieve a solution to suit as many residents as possible.
NEW
CHIEF EXECUTIVE

MR
DAVID WILLIAMS, the newly appointed Chief Executive of the Borough Council,
took up this important post, as head of the paid staff, on 7 May.
He succeeds Mr David Watts who served as Chief Executive for eighteen
years. We wish them both well for the future.
