Do you know where this graffiti is in the Ward? Is it art?

SUPPORT FROM MP

PLANS TO BUILD two waste Incinerators at Capel and Redhill and at Slyfield have been submitted as planning applications .

Guildford Conservatives do not believe that incinerators are the best solution, a view shared by our MP, Nick St Aubyn. Andrew Hodges is concerned about the environmental effect an incinerator at Slyfield would have on the Ward, both with traffic and visually, particularly for residents in Abbotswood

Plans that would have meant a 110,000 tonnes of waste a year being driven along the A25 east from Guildford to Capel have been rejected in favour of a route using the A3 and M25.

Nick Brougham, County Councillor for East Guildford, is delighted the decision has gone the way he has long advocated.

The level of traffic would have been intolerable for residents using and living near the A25 – this is a clear victory for Common Sense.

David Hunter keeping in touch writes:Planning applications continue to be an item which I believe could be settled with less upset than at present. It appears so often that nobody wants to listen to those who are affected or discuss the neighbours’ concerns. Warnings are given about holding discussions between both groups from a legal point of view. I wonder if the local Guildford Community Mediation Service could help in some of these cases by getting involved talking, without cost, and without involving the legal profession who are out to make money. It might be worth a try, as everyone would save time and money – Just a thought. Their number is Guildford 301010.

With Arreton in Epsom Road, in the local news only a few years ago after a rebuild, it is worth noting that several meetings, in my presence, were held with the relevant parties. These resulted in compromises and restrictions for the immediate neighbours. I do hope that the future of Arreton can be settled without another series of arguments.

Andrew Hodges is willing to see residents at mutually convenient times. If you wish to meet with him to discuss any matter, please do not hesitate to contact him.
